Why a Dedicated Skinner?
The wide, curved blade keeps more edge in contact with the hide, and the rounded tip resists accidentally puncturing it. Most of our skinners run 6.5–9 inches overall — small enough for control, big enough for elk. Pair one with a gut hook hunting knife and you're set for the season.
Damascus Steel in the Field
Our skinners are forged from 1095/15N20 layered steel at 56–60 HRC — a hard edge that strops back to razor sharp in seconds. Carbon Damascus will patina with use; wipe it dry and oil it after processing game and it will outlast factory stainless blades.

What makes a skinner knife different from a hunting knife?
A skinner has a shorter, wider blade with a pronounced curved belly designed for slicing hide off in long strokes, while a general hunting knife has a straighter edge and pointed tip for all-purpose field tasks.
What size skinner do I need for deer?
A 3–4 inch blade (roughly 7–8.5 inches overall) is the sweet spot for whitetail — larger blades suit elk and moose.
Does Damascus steel rust?
Carbon Damascus can rust if left wet. Wipe the blade dry after use and apply a light coat of mineral or blade oil before storage.
Are these full tang?

Can I get one engraved as a gift?
