About Ransack Viking
Who forges these pieces, how they are made, and what we will not compromise on.
Who forges these pieces, how they are made, and what we will not compromise on.
Ransack Viking is a Memphis, Tennessee company. The steel is forged by hand in partner workshops that have done this work for generations, then every piece is inspected, sharpened where it needs it, and shipped by us from Lamar Avenue.
We say that plainly because the alternative is to imply something untrue. Plenty of stores in this category let you assume the blade was made in the same building the invoice came from. Ours were not, and the people who made them are not a detail to hide - they are the reason the work is good.
What happens in Memphis is the part that protects you: every piece is unpacked, checked against its own listing, edge tested, and rejected if the grind is off or the fit is loose.
Read from our own store, not a marketing sheet. These move as orders and reviews come in.
Every listing carries its steel, handle and length. Across all 542 pieces it breaks down like this.
Overall length runs from small folders to 42.5" swords. The median piece measures 10".
439 pieces ship with a leather sheath or blade cover cut for that exact blade.
Damascus figure comes from folding and drawing the billet by hand, so the pattern on your blade is yours only.
We use these symbols because they are beautiful and because they mean something. Here is where the line sits.
The Valknut and the Elder Futhark are attested — on the Stora Hammars stones, the Oseberg burial, hundreds of runestones.
The Vegvísir comes from 19th-century Icelandic manuscripts, not the Viking age. We still cut it — we just will not pretend it is older than it is.
Thor’s hammer was worn as a pendant across Scandinavia. Ours is jewellery and ornament, not a religious claim.
Norse symbols have been stolen by extremist groups. We will not cut those marks, and we refund in full if asked.
A billet is brought to forging heat. Damascus starts as alternating layers that will become the pattern.
Drawn out on the anvil, folded and re-drawn. This is where the figure in the steel is decided.
Heat treated, ground, then fitted with rosewood, stag horn, bone, micarta or olive wood and finished by hand.
Unpacked, measured against its listing, edge tested, sheath fitted, then packed and shipped free.
We ship from the USA. We do not say the pieces are made here, because they are not. Our Country of Origin page sets out exactly who does what.
A price that is always slashed is not a discount, it is a habit. When something here is reduced, it is reduced for a reason and for a while.
If the grind is off or the fit is loose it does not go out. That is the whole point of checking every piece here.
Every piece is forged, ground and finished by hand, and ships free from Memphis.
