The poleaxe was what a knight carried on foot, a short polearm, usually about the height of the man carrying it, combining an axe or hammer head with a top spike.Shorter than it looksUnlike the halberd it was not made for formations. It was made for armoured single combat and for the tournament, so it is shorter and better balanced, meant to be used with both hands close together and reversed quickly. Many carried steel langets down the haft to stop it being cut through.Ours are hand-forged in steel on hardwood hafts.Please check your local law before ordering.
