The arming sword is the classic single-handed knightly sword of the high medieval period, a straight double-edged blade, a cross guard, and a pommel heavy enough to balance it.Made to be used with a shieldIt is shorter and lighter than a longsword because it was never meant to be used alone. The other hand held a shield or a buckler, and the sword was fast rather than powerful. When shields fell out of use, the blade grew and the longsword replaced it.Ours are hand-forged from high-carbon or Damascus steel with leather-wrapped grips. Please check your local law before ordering.
