Gut hook knives make field dressing faster — the hook opens the hide without piercing organs. Drop-point blades are the all-rounders for skinning and camp tasks. For dedicated skinning work, see our Damascus skinner knives; for bigger blades, browse Bowie knives.
Steel & Construction
Most of our hunting knives are forged from layered 1095/15N20 Damascus (56–60 HRC) or D2 tool steel — both hold a working edge through a full field dressing. Full-tang construction means the steel runs the entire length of the handle for strength you can baton with.

Hunting Knife FAQ
What blade length is best for deer hunting?
For deer, a 3.5–4.5 inch blade is ideal — enough edge for skinning and field dressing while staying controllable. Larger game can justify 5 inches or more.
Is Damascus steel good for hunting knives?
Yes. Modern Damascus made from 1095/15N20 layers holds a sharp edge, resharpens easily, and is tough enough for field use. Wipe it dry and oil it lightly after use to prevent rust.
What is a gut hook for?
The sharpened hook on the spine opens an animal's hide like a zipper during field dressing, without cutting into the organs beneath.
Do your hunting knives come with sheaths?
Yes — every fixed-blade hunting knife includes a fitted genuine leather sheath.
Can I engrave a name on the knife?
Yes. Most knives offer engraving on the blade or handle — a popular choice for hunting gifts and groomsmen sets.
