Every sword in this collection is pattern-welded, forged from alternating layers of two steels, folded, drawn out and etched so the layers show.Where the pattern comes fromWe use 1095 and 15N20. They harden alike, which keeps the blade sound, but they etch differently: the nickel in 15N20 stays bright while the 1095 darkens. That contrast is the pattern. It is the steel itself, not a coating, so it cannot rub off, though a deep scratch may need re-etching to blend.Because each billet is folded and drawn by hand, no two blades carry the same pattern. Damascus is carbon steel and is not stainless: dry it after handling and wipe it with a light oil now and then. Please check your local law before ordering.
