Scimitar is the European catch-all for the curved single-edged swords of the Middle East, Persia and India, the shamshir, the kilij, the talwar. They are related but not the same weapon.Curve and drawThe Persian shamshir carries the deepest curve of the family, so deep that it cannot be used to thrust at all. It is a pure draw-cut: the edge is pulled through the target rather than driven into it. The talwar is less curved and keeps a broader point.Ours are hand-forged from high-carbon or Damascus steel with horn, wood or bone grips. Please check your local law before ordering.
