A flail is a striking head joined to the haft by a chain rather than fixed to it.The chain does something a mace cannotBecause the head is not rigid, it keeps travelling after the haft stops. That lets it curve around a raised shield or a parrying blade and land behind the guard. The cost is control, a flail is genuinely dangerous to its own user, which is one reason surviving military examples are far rarer than the films suggest.Ours are hand-forged in steel with hardwood hafts, made as display and collector pieces. Please check your local law before ordering.
