The poleaxe was the knight’s weapon on foot, a short polearm, usually about the height of the man carrying it, combining an axe or hammer head with a top spike.Shorter than it looksUnlike the halberd it was not a formation weapon. It was made for armoured single combat and for the tournament, so it is shorter and better balanced, meant to be used with both hands close together and reversed quickly.
