The katana is a curved, single-edged Japanese sword worn edge-upward through the belt, which is what allows it to be drawn and cut in one motion. The curve is made, not designedTraditional Japanese blades are clay-coated before quenching, thick along the spine, thin along the edge. The edge cools faster and hardens; the spine cools slower and stays tougher. The two cool at different rates and the blade bends itself into its curve during the quench. The visible hamon line is where the two structures meet.Ours are hand-forged from Damascus or high-carbon steel with wrapped grips and fitted saya. Please check your local law before ordering.
