Buying a sword for someone who collects them is a gamble unless you know what is already on the wall. The safer bet is a shape they are unlikely to own: a single edged messer rather than another arming sword, or a falchion rather than a third longsword. All of these are hand forged in 1095 high carbon steel and arrive finished.
The shapes least likely to be duplicated
Two grosse messers head the list. Thornreave is 32 inches overall with a 25.5 inch blade and Ashenhold is 33 inches with a 26 inch blade. The messer was a peasant knife grown to sword size, with a slab grip and a nagel, and it is the shape most collections miss. Grimwake is the falchion, 30 inches overall with a 24 inch blade, a dark hardwood grip and a brass cross guard and pommel. Nightreed covers the Japanese side, a katana at 41 inches overall with a 28.5 inch blade in a black lacquered saya. The two long European blades are Palefrost, an elven style longsword, and Fernstride, a ranger longsword at 42 inches with a 33 inch blade.
