A glaive is a single edged blade mounted on a long shaft, which sounds obvious until you handle one and realise how differently it moves from a spear. The weight sits forward, so it cuts on the sweep rather than the thrust, and the reach means the person holding it decides where the fight happens.
Blades, hooks and lengths
Talonreave is the odd one, a hooked glaive blade cut down to thirty four inches overall with a twenty two inch blade, a walnut grip, a steel collar and a brown leather scabbard, which makes it usable indoors. Tidecleave is the shortest of the proper polearms at fifty four inches overall with a twenty inch Damascus blade. Whitecrest is fifty six inches with a twenty inch high carbon blade. Wildcleave carries the widest cut at twenty six inches of Damascus on a sixty inch shaft. Ravenreave is sixty two inches with a twenty four inch blade. Reaphook is the longest at seventy two inches, a hooked single edge on ash with steel langets, and Reapcurve is the war scythe, supplied as a two piece set.
