An engraved dagger is a gift that stops being generic the moment someone reads the flat of the blade. This archive is the set of daggers worth putting a name on: the pieces with enough clean steel or enough plain bolster to carry text without ruining the line of the blade. Weddings, retirements, birthdays and groomsmen are what most of these get bought for, and the ones that are not gifts are usually bought by people marking something for themselves.
What you are engraving
These arrive blank. Nothing on the page comes with a name already on it, which is the point, because the cutting is done in the United States after the piece lands rather than guessed at in advance. The blades themselves are mostly forge welded 1095 and 15N20 Damascus at 58 to 60 HRC, with one plain 1095 high carbon piece at 54 to 58 HRC, and each ships with a fitted leather sheath. Handles run from wood and dyed bone under a steel bolster and pommel, through rosewood, olive wood with Damascus fittings, camel bone with Damascus bolsters, stag horn against bull horn, to a mixed bone, wood and micarta grip. The largest are dagger swords at 30 inches overall with 23 inch blades, two with wrapped leather grips and one in plain wood, all in a turned olive burl scabbard, which gives you a lot of room to work with. Prices run from 109 dollars to 449 dollars before engraving.
Getting the wording right
Short beats clever. A date, a set of initials, a single line. Text is 19 dollars, a symbol is 39 dollars and a family crest is 49 dollars, all cut in the US after arrival, and the engraving page shows placement, character limits and what each option looks like on a finished blade. Everything already set up for personalisation is gathered in the engraved and personalised range. If this is for a wedding party, our notes on groomsmen gifts deal with the awkward parts, and the pieces chosen for it are in wedding and groomsmen gifts.
