The Axe People Picture
Ragnar Lothbrok is a figure from Norse saga, popularised again by television — and the axe associated with him is a bearded profile with a long engraved haft and leather wrap. These are our interpretations of that look, forged and finished by hand rather than cast.
Display Piece or Working Axe
The high-carbon versions are functional camp axes, sharpened and heat-treated. The Damascus versions lean toward display and collection. Both ship with a fitted leather blade cover and take engraving. See the full Viking axes range.
Ragnar Axe FAQ
Is this a screen-accurate replica?
No. These are hand-forged pieces inspired by the Norse bearded axe and the Ragnar legend, not licensed reproductions of any specific screen prop.
Are they functional or display only?
The high-carbon models are working axes, sharpened and usable. Damascus versions are built more for display, though still properly forged.
Was Ragnar Lothbrok a real person?
He appears in Norse sagas and later chronicles, but historians debate whether he was one man, several, or largely legendary.
Can runes be added to the haft?
Yes — Elder Futhark engraving on the wooden haft is one of our most requested options on these axes.
