Plate is the end of the argument. Once a body is wrapped in shaped steel, cuts stop mattering and everything moves toward blunt force and finding the gaps. It is also the heaviest thing you will ever put on voluntarily, and the weight sits better than people expect because a good harness hangs off the shoulders and hips.
Bodies, shoulders and hands
Runeheart is the plain breastplate, 18 gauge mild steel with roped edges, chased knotwork and a leather harness. Skaldplate adds articulated pauldrons over the same gauge, with roped edges, a hooped fauld and a rune plaque. Two are blackened. One Nightplate is a 16 gauge cuirass with an articulated fauld, runed buckles and a leather waist belt. The other is an 18 gauge cuirass with pauldrons, a burgundy wool lining, a hooped fauld and a rune plaque, and the lining is the part that decides whether you can wear it for more than an hour. Gripfast covers the hands, forged plate gauntlets with articulated finger lames and Elder Futhark engraved cuffs.
They sit in plate armor, inside the wider Viking armor range. The layer underneath is in brigandine and gambeson.
