Gauge is the thickness of the sheet, and lower numbers mean thicker steel. At 18 gauge you get something that holds its shape, takes a knock and can still be worn for a full day without your neck complaining by lunchtime. It is the sensible middle ground for display and for events that do not involve steel contact.
Heads first, then a body
Kinhelm is the Norse nasal helm, a riveted dome with an Elder Futhark brow band and a padded liner. Vendelgaze is the spectacle helm, with a brass brow band, riveted eye guards and a leather liner ring. Ironvisor is the closed medieval one, with a riveted brow band, a perforated bevor across the jaw and a padded leather liner. Legionplume goes classical, a Roman imperial Gallic helmet with brass trim, a horsehair crest and hinged cheek guards, which is the loudest thing in the group by a distance. Runeheart is the only body piece, a breastplate cuirass with roped edges, chased knotwork and a leather harness.
The heads sit in medieval helmets and Roman and Greek helmets, and the body pieces in plate armor.
