The bowie is an American invention with a clip point, a broad belly and a guard that means business. It was designed for a fight and adopted by everyone who ever had to skin something instead. Hand forging matters here more than on most shapes, because the clip has to be ground into steel that was moved rather than cut.
Handles, guards and blade lengths
Bonecreek is Damascus with bone handle scales and a Valknut etched blade, ten inches of blade in fifteen inches overall, in an oxblood belt sheath. Ramwhorl is thirteen inches with a ram horn handle, a brass guard and an engraved bolster. Riverclaw is fourteen inches overall with a nine inch blade, a rosewood handle and a rune cut brass bolster. Brasscliff is the longest at fifteen inches with a brass double guard and a stacked leather handle. Emberstack uses a stacked leather washer handle under a clip point fullered blade with an engraved pommel cap. Sawcrest is the odd one, a 1095 sawback with an etched panel and a cord wrapped grip.
