The Roman helmet is the most recognisable piece of armour ever made, which is impressive for something designed by committee over four centuries. The imperial Gallic pattern is the one everybody pictures: a bowl with a flared neck guard, hinged cheek pieces and a brow reinforce. These follow those lines rather than inventing a film version.
The four patterns
Legionplume is the full dress version, an imperial Gallic helmet in 18 gauge with brass trim, a horsehair crest and hinged cheek guards. Eaglemarch is the plainer one, an 18 gauge bowl with a brass meander band and hinged cheeks. Coppercrest goes bronze toned, an 18 gauge legionary bowl with engraved meander cheek guards. Eaglecrest is the cavalry helm in heavier 16 gauge, with a Greek key brow band, pierced ear discs and a crest holder, which sits lower over the ears than the infantry patterns. Arenaward is the odd one and the most striking, an 18 gauge murmillo gladiator helmet with a brass grille, eye discs and a wide neck guard.
They sit in Roman and Greek helmets. To finish the kit, the boards are in Roman and Greek shields and the blades in gladius.
