A gift for a husband is a problem with a known failure mode. He buys what he wants when he wants it, he says he needs nothing, and he means it. The way around that is to buy something he would never buy for himself, which usually means something slightly impractical and considerably better made than whatever he owns already.
What is on this tag
Karambits, gut hook hunting knives, daggers, skinners, bearded axes and a few swords. Blade lengths run from 3 inches on a compact knife to 24 on a dagger sword, with overall lengths from about 6.5 to 30. Steel is mostly Damascus of 1095 and 15N20, forge welded and acid etched, at 58 to 60 HRC, with one in D2. Handles are olive wood, rosewood, wood, camel bone and stabilized resin. Axes sit at around 18 inches on an ash haft with a leather blade cover, and every fixed blade ships in a stitched cowhide sheath.
Daggers, which people overlook
A dagger is double edged and built to thrust, which makes it useless in a kitchen and superb on a wall. It is also the shape with the longest and strangest history in Europe, running from rondels and bollock daggers through stilettos, and the dagger types article works through the family properly. If he has knives already and no dagger, that is the gap. The double edged blades are in the dagger knives.
Making it his
Text engraving is 19 dollars, a symbol is 39 dollars and a family crest is 49 dollars, and the work is done in the US after arrival. A date on a bolster ages better than anything else you could put there. Keep it short, because a small surface punishes ambition. The engraving page shows what each surface holds. The wider pattern welded range is in the Damascus knives.
What arrives
Fixed blades come with a stitched cowhide sheath and an edge already on them. Axes arrive mounted on a wedged haft with a leather blade cover. Swords come with a scabbard on some pieces and not on others, which is worth checking before you buy a wall bracket. Nothing here needs a second purchase to be usable on the day it is opened.
Sizes, before you order
A 6.5 inch folder disappears into a pocket. A 12 inch knife wants a belt. A 30 inch dagger sword wants a wall. Decide where the thing is going to live before it arrives rather than afterwards, which is the single most common regret with a gift this size.
Free US shipping

Hand Forged
Heated, hammered and ground by hand.

Names, dates or Norse runes on most pieces.
