Norse armour was mail and a helmet, and not everyone had either. A mail shirt cost about as much as a small farm, so it marked out who you were as clearly as it protected you. These are the pieces that make a kit read as Norse rather than generic medieval, which mostly comes down to the shape of the helm.
Mail, heads and hands
Three mail pieces cover the body. Ringmantle appears twice, once as a mild steel hauberk in butted round wire rings with short sleeves and a thigh length skirt, and once as a shorter blackened shirt cut to a forty six inch chest in a 4 in 1 European weave. Ringwarden is thigh length with a split skirt in 9 mm rings. On the head, Vendelgaze is a spectacle helm in 18 gauge with a brass brow band, riveted eye guards and a leather liner ring. Browhold is the nasal helm with a knotwork browband. Wyrmgaze is the showpiece, a Sutton Hoo pattern with an 18 gauge full face mask, brass crest, eyebrows and embossed panels. Grimhold covers the hands, chainmail and leather gauntlets with domed studs.
