A Damascus steel knife is one forged from layers of two steels welded together, then acid etched so the pattern shows on the surface. Ours are 1095 and 15N20, forge welded and etched, finished at 58 to 60 HRC. Buyers who type this phrase want the look and the edge in the same object, and tend not to be fussy about which shape it arrives in.
