The wakizashi is the shorter companion blade, worn alongside a katana and carried indoors where a long sword was not welcome. Blades sit around 18 to 20 inches, which makes it the most usable Japanese sword for anyone who does not have a hall to swing in. Every one here is forged rather than cut from stock.
Blades, hamon and fittings
Moonwake is the shortest at 26 inches overall with an 18 inch blade, a clay hardened hamon and a brass habaki. Bonecrest is 27 inches overall with a 19 inch blade. Riverstone runs 28 inches with a 19.5 inch blade, a black lacquered saya and a cord sageo. Cinderpine is 28.5 inches with a 20 inch blade, a brown cord wrap and a black saya. Snowfold is the longest at 30 inches overall, with a visible hamon, an antiqued round tsuba and a gloss white saya, which is the one that stands out on a rack. Shadowcurve is the dark option at 28 inches with a blackened curved blade and a matching saya. Trinehilt is the Damascus one, with a triquetra engraved brass tsuba and a brown leather wrapped tsuka over a hardwood saya.
