A painted shield is the only piece of a kit that carries a picture, which is why it does more work on a wall than anything else in the catalogue. These are painted by hand rather than printed, so no two faces are identical, and the edges are finished in rawhide or steel rather than left raw.
Four traditions, four shapes
The Norse rounds are the smallest. Ravenward is a plain 24 inch board with a leather arm strap and hand grip. Stormwheel is the same diameter painted as a navy and white pinwheel with a steel boss and an Elder Futhark rune ring. The Roman scuta are curved and much larger. Legionwall is 37 inches tall with a steel boss, painted wings, a rawhide edge and a fitting kit. Stormwing is 40 inches on a curved laminated body with rawhide edging and a steel dome boss. From the medieval side, Lionward is a 30 inch heater with a painted rampant lion and a knotwork border. Palewing is a 40 inch Norman kite, per pale black and white, and Wavewarden is a 34 inch teardrop with painted bands and a full strap set.
