Lamellar is built from hundreds of small plates laced to each other rather than riveted to a backing. It flexes where mail would drag and covers where plate would gap, and it was the dominant answer across Asia and the Eurasian steppe for well over a thousand years while Europe was still arguing about mail.
Shirts, suits and one helmet
Wyrmscale is the practical one, a steel scale armour shirt in 18 gauge scales with russet leather binding and brass rivets. Ashscale is the blackened version with black leather binding and a rune plaque. The two Japanese suits are the full expression of the idea. Crimsonlace is lacquered steel with a full do, sode and kusazuri, crimson lacing, a brass plaque and a jingasa. Silkscale is the leather version in tan hide with cream cord lacing, a wide brim helmet, shoulder guards, tassets and thigh guards, and it is far lighter to wear than it looks. Nightcrest is the head, a kabuto with a ribbed black lacquer bowl, a brass crescent crest and an orange laced neck guard.
