The gladius was the standard sword of the Roman legions for four hundred years: a short broad blade with a heavy point, built for thrusting in a shield wall where there was no room to swing. It won more ground than any other sword in Europe, which is a strange thing to remember about a blade barely longer than your forearm.
Blades, grips and guards
Bonelegion is the plain high carbon one, 27 inches overall with a 20 inch blade. Emberlegion is the Damascus version at the same size. Leafwarden runs 28 inches with a 21 inch blade, a ribbed cherry wood grip and a globular pommel, which is the most historically shaped of the group. Stormleaf is the Damascus match at 28 inches with a 21 inch blade. Legionfold goes shorter at 26 inches with a leaf blade, a bronze meander guard, an oxblood leather grip and a matching scabbard. Ironlegion is the dark option, a blackened ridged blade with a knotwork engraved guard, a ribbed wooden grip and a steel mounted scabbard.
They sit in gladius, alongside the other short blades in short swords. To finish the kit, the boards are in Roman and Greek shields.
