The Elder Futhark is the older runic alphabet, twenty four staves used across Germanic Europe from roughly the second century onward. It was cut into wood, bone and metal rather than written with ink, which is why every letter is built from straight lines. That constraint is also why it looks right cut into a blade.
Stones, blades and one axe
Stonecast is the set for reading rather than wearing: twenty four engraved casting stones in tumbled stone with a tan leather drawstring pouch. On steel, Cairnbrand runs a rune engraved blade down a thirty six inch Viking sword with a dark leather grip and matching scabbard. Azurehold cuts the staves into the fuller of a thirty seven inch arming sword with a blue leather grip and scabbard. Loopcrown puts them on the guard instead, with a ring pommel and a fitted scabbard on a thirty six inch blade. Stavebeard takes the idea onto an axe, a nineteen inch walnut haft under a rune and stave etched head with a black leather cover. Thricebound is the pendant, a Valknut disc with a rune band.
Casting sets sit in runestones and rune sets. For your own text cut after arrival, see engraved and personalized, and read the Elder Futhark for what each stave meant.
