Forge welded means the blade started life as separate bars of steel, hammered together at welding heat until they became one piece. Here the two steels are 1095 and 15N20. Acid etching afterwards brings out the layer lines, which is why the phrase overlaps almost completely with Damascus. People who search this wording care about how the blade was made, not only how it looks on a stand.
