A hand forged hammer is the one tool where the maker and the buyer want the same thing: a head that is dense, seated tight and balanced over the haft. This tag runs across two uses that rarely share a shelf. Half of it belongs on a bench beside an anvil. The other half is Norse and meant to be looked at.
Bench heads and Norse heads
On the working side, Emberfall is a 1095 rounding hammer with a Valknut engraved cheek on an American ash handle, and a second Emberfall carries a Mjolnir shaped head with a wrapped leather grip. Nailward is the carpentry one, a rip claw head on hickory with an Elder Futhark rune line. On the Norse side the hafts get longer. Anvilwake is a 24 inch haft under a rune cut head with a leather wrapped grip and a head cover. Crowfell is Damascus with a crow beak pick on a 26 inch hardwood haft, brass langets and a ferrule. Anvilcrown runs a double faced head on a 19 inch walnut haft with an engraved collar and a leather belt hanger. Thunderhide and Ladderpeen are the short ones at 16 and 15 inches, one with a tan leather haft and wrist loop, the other a ladder pattern Damascus head.
