Heads are 1095 high carbon hardened to 54 to 58 HRC, with a run of pattern welded 1095 and 15N20 Damascus at 58 to 60. Hafts are white ash, hickory, walnut, birch, oak and rosewood, hung with a wedge or pinned through the eye, and many are wrapped in leather or cord. Sizes run from a 14 inch throwing axe up to a spear a little over six feet assembled.
