Ash is the traditional spear wood for a reason. It bends before it breaks, it is light for its strength, and a long shaft of it does not turn into a club halfway through the day. Every spear on this tag is built on one, with the head forged separately in either plain 1095 or layered Damascus.
Heads, lengths and fittings
Thornwake is the big one, a 12 inch Damascus winged head on a 72 inch ash haft with a brass ferrule and a leather head sheath. Serpentcast is similar at 74 inches overall with a leather grip wrap. Runeleaf runs 72 inches with an 11 inch head, a red leather grip and a brown leather head cover. Ashgleam is the longest shaft at 76 inches under an 11 inch leaf blade with a rune engraved socket. Ashfang is the compact one at 60 inches overall, a broad leaf head with a brass butt spike. Ashreach adds a brass Valknut ferrule under a leaf shaped Damascus head. Boarcleft is the hunting shape, a winged boar spear with a swept crossbar and a brass knotwork ferrule. Reedfork is the odd one out, a three prong trident head with a knotwork collar on a 66 inch haft.
