Norse arms is the shorthand for the kit a Viking age fighter actually carried: spear first, then axe, then sword if he could afford one. The spear is the piece most people skip and the one that turned up most often in the ground. This archive follows that order rather than the film version, so it runs from socketed spearheads and arrowheads through hammers and axes up to full swords.
What is in the rack
The polearms are the standout. There is a Damascus Viking spear with a leaf blade on a rune cut brass socket and an ash shaft, a 1095 spear on a seven foot ash shaft with a knotwork cut socket and a steel butt ferrule, and a boar spear with a broad leaf blade and a curved steel crossbar to stop the animal coming up the shaft. Loose heads come as singles, as a rune socketed pair, and as a set of six from 5 to 9 inches in a canvas roll, plus a set of six Damascus broadheads in a rolled leather case. The hammers cover a Damascus head with steel langets and a raven etch, a flat faced Damascus head on a rosewood haft with brass bolsters, and a rune cut steel head with a wrist lanyard. Axes include a long hafted bearded head with a brass collar and a double bit on a 26 inch ash haft. The swords run to Viking and arming patterns with fullered blades, lobed and wheel pommels, brass knotwork guards, oxblood and blue leather grips and matching scabbards, plus a paired chain sword set with ring pommels. Steel is plain 1095 at 54 to 58 HRC or 1095 and 15N20 Damascus at 58 to 60 HRC. Prices run from 229 dollars to 529 dollars.
